Live Victoriously Cosmetics is the 1st handmade makeup company in St. Louis, Missouri and may possibly be the 1st Christian makeup company anywhere.
Owned by Aundrea Chanaye, she started out by offering a range of bold lip colors that at the time were not available in stores and all inspired by scripture. Her desire is to use her business and gifts to minister to women.
- Why did you decide to go into the beauty business?
Makeup is my passion. I’ve been working as a makeup artist for over 7 years. Live Victoriously Cosmetics was launched in 2012 because I wanted to purchase different colored lipsticks that weren’t available at the time, so I started making them myself. Even though I am the owner of LVC, I still work as a makeup artist and also as a salon owner, so I do all three at the same time. It is really through God’s grace and His timing that I am able do what I do.
- What is the purpose of LVC?
To spread the gospel of Christ. My products are intended encourage and inspire women in a unique way. Everything is inspired by God, even how I get the names for my products—it’s by reading His word and just being led by Him. People have told me to water it down and just make it a positive line instead of adding scriptures, but I have to stick with what God is telling me.
- What products do you currently carry and plan to carry in the future?
We currently carry matte and satin lipsticks, lip butter, lip frost (Lip gloss that isn’t sticky), bronzer, highlight powder, and contour sticks. In the future, we plan to have lip scrubs, eye shadows, and concealers. All of our products are 100% natural and handmade by me in my kitchen.
- What is your favorite LVC product?
The liquid gold illuminator is a product that can be worn with or without makeup. I use this product every single day.
- What is your definition of beauty?
Being yourself and making sure that you are beautiful on the inside. Every woman is different and we should celebrate those differences. There is no set standard of outward beauty, but beauty always starts from within.
