Recently, Humble Beast partnered with Fair Trade and Current Talent Agency to continue their concept of radical generosity beyond their current domain.
Fair Trade is a Christian distribution company, and Current Talent Agency handles artist management, live performance, merchandising, tour management, event management and more. This poses the question, is Humble Beast expanding and outsourcing to be able to properly represent more artists? They have already made the hard transition of letting go of artists, but are they trying to be more proactive for the future?
Humble Beast has always considered itself a ministry rather than a record label, considering the sacrificed time, talents, and efforts a response to the grace that is freely given by God.
Therefore, one of their goals is to give their music away completely free! The idea is to be able to circulate music to larger audiences without the use of gimmicks and mainstream trends. But along with that commitment came a challenge to another integral part of their mission – giving their best.
Although revenue is increasing, Humble Beast is a mostly volunteer-based business, and often time subject to scarce resources and time. About a year ago this became a threat to their ability to steward their artists properly. To alleviate this issue, the label reduced their label to Propaganda, Beautiful Eulogy, Jackie Hill-Perry, and JGivens – but that’s old news.
