In a recent interview, Emcee Sevin says listening to Gospel music is not enough in your walk with God. The Gospel music industry has become disgusting in his eyes. The only way he can clearly explain this is because he experienced it himself when he first started in the industry.
“You have to go deeper and build an appetite for God.” He also goes on to say that he wants to bring a change to the community that challenges believers to be as authentic as they can. “You need to be able to know God in order to properly give the message through music and ministry,” Sevin states.
My pastor has actually been preaching about the same topic—authenticity—and about being ready for Christ’s return. Sevin believes that although the new artists he sees coming in are preaching Christ in their music, their real motives are not to reach people or make a difference in the community, but rather to have their name known. His whole message is that the industry is turning into a place of show versus purpose.
Let me know your take on Emcee Sevin’s view of The Gospel music industry.
